Queer Country Quarterly
Elías Elena guest hosts Queer Country Quarterly this April, featuring artists Frances Rodriguez and Eli Conley. "Why queer country music? Because sometimes you love a culture that doesn’t love you back. And when everyone came to the first Gay Ole Opry in April of 2011 in all their country finery, we knew we weren’t alone. We do it because we love the music and want to build a community to support queer country musicians. We do it because everybody needs a honky tonk angel to hold them tight. We do it because we believe in country music for all cowpeople." -Gay Ole Opry

NYC Inspired Word at The Parkside Lounge
Elías Krell is the featured artist of the evening & performs a set from 7:00-7:30pm sharp. More about the NYC Inspired Word: “It’s not just a series…It’s a movement.” Founded by longtime journalist and former Village Voice columnist Mike Geffner, The Inspired Word began as strictly a poetry series in March 2009, and, less than a single year from its debut, drew upwards of 90 people to its Manhattan debut at the Greenwich Village club, (le) poisson rouge, in Jan. 2010, before quickly establishing itself as one of the hottest spoken word/poetry series in New York City. The Inspired Word has gone on to expand to music and comedy and feature the impressive likes of Golden Globe Award winning actress Jill Eikenberry, Golden Globe/Emmy nominated actress Amber Tamblyn, TV comedian John Fugelsang, prolific film/stage actor Taylor Negron, Grammy nominated singer Carolyn Malachi, American Idol finalist Anwar Robinson, Hollywood exec Eve Brandstein, award-winning crime novelist Marcus Sakey, and HBO Def Poetry stars Suheir Hammad, Oveous Maximus, Shihan, Patricia Smith, Lemon Andersen, Beau Sia, Regie Cabico. Also, with its ever-growing open mic (open to ALL types of artists – not just spoken word artists and poets, but musicians and comedians as well), the series has given voice to a slew of stunning emerging talent. Hanover Strings Presents: Upstream Live
Tune in to www.upstreamlive.tv to catch the first in this series of exciting new live-streamed musical performances! Season 1, Episode 1: Elías Krell "The songs may be fine-tipped in their melodic and emotional detail, but songwriter Elías Krell comes from a big world and it shows. Opera singer turned academic and adventurous singer-songwriter, Elías has lived in Germany, England, Greece, Honduras, México, and the United States, landing, for the moment, in Kingston, NY. Their music is defiantly trans-genre, its core in bilingual dream pop in Spanish and English. Their second studio record, XO (2018), offers eleven tracks of righteous pop, punk, rock, and americana and features Gerry Leonard, Jesse Murphy, Manuel Quintana, Clifford Carter, Jem Altieri, and more. In addition to performing, Krell is Assistant Professor of Women Studies at Vassar College, in Poughkeepsie, NY. Their research centers on the singing voice as a sonic lens for liberatory and critical transgender politics. "
